Our guesthouse is an old mas from the 18th century located in Roquemaure, at the heart of the vineyards and the birthplace of the Côtes du Rhône wines

10km from Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Orange , 16km from Avignon, 30km from the Pont du Gard bridge, the village of Roquemaure is ideally located at the crossroads of many touristic sites:

  • Avignon: the Poples Palace, the theatre festival, the Avignon bridge,

  • Orange: the Antique theatre, the Chorégies,

  • Nîmes: the Pont du Gard bridge, the Arena, the Maison Carrée

  • Châteauneuf-du-pape castle and its vineyards

 

At the heart of the Côtes du Rhone vineyards, where it was first born, Roquemaure is located by the river, which allows to go out for a walk very quickly, with many itineraries possible with the Mont Ventoux as a focal point.

ROQUEMAURE

 

The village had a great history, especially thanks to its location by the Rhône river and near the city of Avignon. It was an important hub for wine transport and the birthplace of the Côtes du Rhône appellation.

 

Today, the remains of the castle and of the Collegiate church are a testimony of this great past. The collegiate is still important and shelters the relics of Saint Valentin, which are celebrated every year by a religious event, attracting many people. Its baroque organ has been listed as an historical monument.

The region

Except for the many touristic and cultural sites of the region, the countryside is mainly dominated by the wine industry.  We are close to the famous vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Tavel, but also of Lirac, Laudun and Chusclan: even if those wines are less known, amateurs will not miss a visit to taste them.

Besides, the vineyards owners regularly organize activities around wine and local gastronomy, but also around the Gallo-Roman history that left us many remains.

I was born in Mayenne, in the Pays de la Loire region, then I studied in Paris before settling in Provence in 1990.

​

I have worked in the printing industry for 30 years, often travelling in Europe and through the world. I have developed a taste for contacts and meeting people.

 

Economically dismissed in 2020, I decided to change life, to have a break and start a new adventure with the guesthouse.

​

Guestrooms are the best way for me to show my sense of contact and hospitality and to work differently, in a more serene and relaxed way.
